What is plant engineering?

In plant engineering, technical components are brought together to form an overall process. The construction of a plant is therefore not a series or mass product, but rather is adapted to the circumstances and wishes of the customer as well as the objective. Plant engineering includes process engineering, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering. Plant engineering can be found in a wide variety of economic sectors.

From the initial idea through to production and then to assembly from a single source worldwide

With our own extensive product range in reception and screening technology, we often supply a main component for state-of-the-art processing and sorting systems with individual units. In addition to the individual components, we are also able to deliver turnkey systems, including electronics.

We also place a variety of demands on ourselves. We have already been able to implement many systems in the field of recycling technology with many different conditions and materials. For example, we plan and implement sorting systems for waste wood or lightweight packaging (LVP) or set up processing systems for processing household and commercial waste as well as the production of substitute fuels (RDF). One of our other strengths in the field of processing systems lies in the field of organic material, green waste and compost.

Our unique SPLITTER technology allows a wide variety of materials to be sorted - it's a true all-rounder. As a result, this technology is often a primary component which is desired in our systems for economical recycling.

You can find out more about the SPLITTER technology here.

How do waste sorting systems work? Video - Examples:

MULTISORT – sorting system for processing commercial waste into RDF

The plant was constructed in 2020. 25-30 tonnes of commercial waste are processed into substitute fuel per hour. A SPLITTER Unit 625, a double-decker screening plant, pneumatic separator, lightweight material separator with bag filter, conveyor technology as well as ferrous and nonferrous separation are used in the system.

A well-thought-out design enables different modes of operation and thus multiple output qualities. GÜNTHER control technology  which is included in the scope of delivery also features the pre- and post-shredder.

MULTISORT – sorting system for processing waste wood

The plant was constructed in 2020. It processes 30-33 tonnes of waste wood per hour. A pre- and post-shredder, ferrous and nonferrous separators, a pneumatic separator, conveyor technology and a MULTISTAR 2-SE star screen are used in the system.

The system was also supplied by GÜNTHER, including the control technology, with  shredding technology integrated as well. This is located in a specially designed electrical container.

Sorting system for lightweight packaging

A wide variety of separation technologies are used in the system: SPLITTER, vibrating screens, ferrous and nonferrous separators, NIR sorting technology, heavy material separators and several film extractors. Material is brought into the process on a  chain belt conveyor assembly. A shredder rips open the bags and distributes the loose material over two material flow lines.

A double SPLITTER screen deck is used to process the two material flows, thereby ensuring high throughput. It reliably relieves the flow of long pieces and oversized materials such as film and bags. The fine fraction first passes through a vibrating screen, an opposing nonferrous and ferrous remover, a pneumatic separator and several near-infrared systems (NIR separators) which sort the various plastics into PET, Tetra, carton, PP, PVC and HDPE/PE based on their physical properties.

visualise the finished concepts and prepare them for production. This allows us to ensure that all the technical settings are correct, which subsequently minimises the error rate in production and assembly. We provide you with the 3D drawings during the planning phase so that you get the best possible idea of your system in advance.

  • Employees in production and final assembly,
individual parts and components are manufactured in our spacious assembly hall and subsequently approved by the quality assurance department.

  • Employees in the electrical sector
who implement entire control systems for the plants. Here initial plans come first, then being followed control cabinets and cabling for the individual units.

  • Project managers
who serve as your point of contact at all times during the implementation of the project. They will clarify all questions relating to the project for you. You therefore have just one contact person who you can fall back on and rely on at any time. Our project managers each have technical training and experience as well as the foresight you need.

Process flow at Anlagenbau GÜNTHER

Our process engineers will develop a plan for your system based on the objective, deciding which components are used and in which order. The next step involves coordinating your system with the engineers. You design the system and create 3D views. Everything will checked statically if necessary, with electrical engineering coordinated as well. After that, drawings for production will be created. The individual system components will be manufactured in our production hall. Our production includes steel construction, painting, final assembly and electrical assembly. Everything working in sync is essential at this stage. Should you have any questions or uncertainties, we have short routes between project planning, construction and production.

The machines are then accepted by quality management in the factory and finally dispatched. When the customer arrives, our assembly team will be ready. This consists to a large extent of mechatronics engineers who know both mechanics and electrical engineering like the back of their hand. Once the customer's system has been completed, approved and put into operation, our service team will be available from this stage for the customer as a contact person. They carry out training, regular tests and maintenance, dispatch and install spare parts, and advise our customers on further decisions.

Recycling technology with quality

We ourselves produce star screens (in cooperation with Komptech), SPLITTER, receiving station dosing systems and conveyor technology. We are, of course, happy to use these core competencies at the appropriate points in the system – because we are convinced of the quality and functionality of our technology.

In addition to our own portfolio, we also use other components, regardless of the manufacturer. The units can be planned and integrated according to customer requirements.

We also make sure that any purchased parts originate from well-known manufacturers. We obtain a wide variety of separation technologies for our plant engineering from a large number of well-known suppliers. These include: shredders, magnets, nonferrous separators, pneumatic separators, sensor technology and various sieves. We provide competent, manufacturer-independent and customer-oriented advice on the use of various components.

Thanks to their technical expertise, our process engineers and designers are also able to incorporate existing components into the planning and install them into a new system. This is what makes "recycling” possible.

When it comes to implementing successful projects, whether you come to us with a problem, an initial idea or a finished concept has no bearing. You tell us the goal you want to achieve with the system, such as meeting a recycling quota, increasing throughput, or a high sorting depth, and we'll create finished, functioning and efficient concepts.
